Mixed Media: Texture, Resistance & Technique

Take your artistic skills on an exciting journey of texture, colour, and tactile discovery! This term, young creators will experiment with a dynamic mix of mediums—combining unexpected everyday items like shaving foam, salt, and natural twigs with vibrant watercolours, oil pastels, and textured acrylics. From mastering wax resistance and paper construction to building rich, 3D surface textures, children will discover how blending different materials brings art to life in extraordinary ways.

Children will learn how to:

• Master Technical Resistance: Combine wax, oil pastels, and watercolours to create striking resist effects and fluid colour blends.

• Build Tactile & Sculptural Textures: Manipulate shaving foam, salt, twigs, and heavy acrylics to craft rich, 3D surface landscapes.

• Construct & Pattern with Precision: Learn paper construction and line work to build structured, multi-dimensional artwork.

• Blend & Combine Media: Gain confidence experimenting with different tools and materials to solve creative design challenges.

This course is ideal for any young inventor who loves to experiment, build, and play with materials. It’s a hands-on experience that blends fine art techniques with tactile, sensory design!
