13 sessions from Wed 15 Apr 2026 [Show]
In this vibrant Wednesday club, children will take their artistic journey to the next level by mastering the intricate art of Collage and Mixed Media. Building on the watercolour foundations from Terms 1 and 2, students will now learn to transform their painted washes into physical masterpieces. Each week focuses on a new structural technique—teaching students how to manipulate paper, play with depth, and bring their ideas to life by merging traditional painting with modern assembly methods.
Children will learn how to:
Master Hand-Painted Textures: Move beyond the flat page by creating bespoke "collage papers" using advanced watercolour washes, salt-textures, and dry-brushing to use as your building blocks.
Integrate Sculptural Collage: Discover how to tear, cut, and layer materials to add physical relief and narrative depth, turning a 2D painting into a 3D story.
Explore Advanced Colour Harmony: Learn to "paint with paper" by mixing sophisticated palettes and selecting contrasting hues that make layered compositions pop with professional realism.
Understand Transparency & Overlap: Experiment with the magic of vellum, tissue, and thin glazes to see how light passes through different layers of a collage.
Study the Masters of Assemblage: Draw inspiration from iconic collage artists and modern movements to experiment with composition, focal points, and their own unique "visual voice."
All abilities welcome— Just bring your artistic spirit to the club!
